Privacy policy — updated 2026-09-02

How we handle your data.

We collect as little as possible, store it in the EU, and use it only for the purpose you submitted it for. This page describes exactly what that means.

01

Who we are

Anity is a research organisation developing digital avatars — calibrated generative models used as instruments in computational social science. This policy applies to the website anity.ai and to information submitted through it. For data protection matters, contact privacy@anity.ai.

02

What we collect

We collect only the information you actively submit. The research access form collects an email address. Our hosting provider processes standard technical request data (IP address, user agent, timestamps) as part of delivering and securing the site. We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share personal data with advertisers.

03

Why we process it

Email addresses submitted via the access form are used solely to evaluate and respond to research access requests. The legal basis is legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in responding to an enquiry you initiated, or consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) where you opt in to further correspondence. Technical log data is processed on the basis of legitimate interest in operating a secure service.

04

Storage and retention

Access requests are stored in an access-controlled database hosted in the European Union. Records are retained for up to 24 months from submission, or until you ask us to delete them — whichever comes first. Technical logs are retained for a short operational period by our infrastructure provider.

05

Cookies

This site does not set marketing or analytics cookies. Any storage used is strictly necessary for the page to function.

06

Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Send requests to privacy@anity.ai and we will respond within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

07

Research data

Cohort data used to build avatars is governed separately by contract and by the ethics approval of the partner institution. Such data is never collected through this website, is de-identified at the ingestion boundary, and is handled under the standards set out in our research manifesto.

08

Changes

We update this policy when our processing changes. The current version is dated 2 September 2026.
